Description | The Workshop on the Role of Oceans in Climate Regulation aims at introducing this topic to BSc or MSc students. The work will consists in lectures and in a group project. Students will have the opportunity to understand how ocean circulation can be modelled and how it impacts Earth’s climate, how to monitor the oceans, and get an introduction on the water cleaning technologies. |

Content and Methodology | Theoretical lectures will take place in the morning and will be open to remote participants, while the practical sessions in the afternoon will be open to on-site selected candidates from Paris-Saclay University and EUGLOH universities (up to 16 on-site participants will be selected from the partners). These sessions will consist of group student projects with 4 to 6 students, and will have to tackle the understanding of ocean circulation modelling, the impact of ocean on the carbon cycle, surveys of ocean monitoring techniques or of water cleaning technologies. These projects will be supervised by the lecturers. Selection of candidates will be based on pre-requisites in physics, environmental science and on motivation. For online participation, undergraduate students will be prioritised. All participants will receive a certificate of attendance. On-site participants (Basic Physics Curriculum) will have the opportunity to receive 2.5 ECTS.
