Unlock Your Creative Potential with EUGLOH's Living Lab: Serious Games as a Global Health Education Tool!

Can games help us solve global health challenges? In this hands-on, multidisciplinary course, students will discover how serious games, that are games with a purpose beyond entertainment, can serve as powerful tools in global health education and advocacy. Centered around the One Health approach, this course empowers participants to design and deliver innovative teaching interventions tackling real-world global health issues.

Throughout the course, participants will be introduced to the concepts of global health, explore the building blocks of game design, delve into simulation and educational game strategies, and collaborate in international teams to develop their own serious game prototypes.

No prior experience in medicine or health sciences is required – students and staff from all academic backgrounds are welcome!

Who Can Apply?

  • Undergraduate students (with at least 120 credits earned), Master, PhD students and staff from all disciplines.
  • Priority will be given to students and staff with a strong interest in Global Health topics, with selection based on the following criteria: 30% academic/professional merit, 30% motivation, 20% interdisciplinarity, and 20% balance across participating universities.
  • International students and staff are highly encouraged to apply!

Mobility and training are fully funded by the EUGLOH project.

Content and Methodology

What You’ll Learn


By the end of the course, participants will be able to:



  • Understand the foundational concepts of Global Health: One Health, Public Health, Planetary Health, and Eco-Health.

  • Identify key elements and genres of serious games.

  • Analyze global health challenges and structure them into concrete problems.

  • Design an educational game addressing a specific global health issue.

  • Collaborate across disciplines to build game-based learning tools that drive awareness and action.


Course Format



  • Online Learning (13th October – 23rd November 2025): 6 weeks of self-paced content using Moodle, collaborative tasks, and live sessions via Zoom

  • In-Person Training (24th – 28th November 2025): 5 days of hands-on workshops, group work, and game pitches in Munich, Germany (LMU).
