The course is composed of two interdisciplinary modules using different methodologies: Module 1 offers a theoretical introduction to data protection, while Module 2 is a training based on the interactive participation of students.
The modules are based on two separate but interconnected disciplines: students will get familiar with the basic legal concepts, complemented by the necessary IT knowledge to better understand data protection in the 21st century.
After participating in the theoretical courses (Module 1) students will be assigned to groups where they have to solve real-life scenarios (Module 2) based on the first module, as well as on the materials previously assigned by the lecturers. Groups shall work on their presentation/peer review evaluation mainly prior to the training, but they will have the opportunity to make final touches in person once they are in Szeged.
At the training, students will present their solutions in a peer-review system and discuss the findings under the direction of the trainers and jury members. On the last day, the jury announces the results among the participants: who performed best in the field of data protection!
In order to successfully complete the course students must:
Module 1: pass an online test based on the topics discussed during the theoretical lectures. The test can be completed between 7th October – 13th October 2024. Passing the test is a requirement to participate in Module 2.
Module 2: (1) be present and actively participate in all training activities (e.g. discussion of the topics) + (2) give one (group) presentation on the previously assigned real-life data processing scenarios (education, health and the world of work) + (3) present one peer-review evaluation (either individualy or in a small group based on the number of students). |
