What is the purpose of research? Bringing about ground-breaking findings that will never be applied or communicated outside a specific niche? Surely not. Science communication is thus key to informing both the public and scientists from other fields about one’s work.

The Local Student Board of the University of Hamburg invites you to join the conversation at the second EUGLOH Science Slam. Researchers at different stages of their careers – ranging from undergraduate students to professors – will each have ten minutes to present Global Health topics in a fun, precise and easy-to-understand manner. The audience will then decide on the top three presenters who will each be awarded a small prize.

For all in-person attendees and presenters, please be aware that you confirm your consent to the streaming of this event automatically upon registration for this event. If you have any questions about this, please contact us (eugloh@uni-hamburg.de). All those attending in person on 20 January 2026 are welcome to come to the Pony Bar (Allende-Platz 1) from 18:30 onwards.

Anyone interested in taking the stage at Pony Bar is invited to send a 200-word abstract to the team at eugloh@uni-hamburg.de by 12 January 2026.

For this event, no scholarships are available to cover travel expenses or accommodation, but everyone unable to join us in Hamburg is very welcome to watch the event online. Virtual attendance will be made possible for EUGLOH participants outside Hamburg only. We will provide the connection details in due time. EUGLOH students and researchers are invited to contribute to the event from outside Hamburg by sending in recorded videos to the team at eugloh@uni-hamburg.de by 12 January 2026.

Get ready for a remarkable and fun evening!
