Language serves as a powerful reflection of cultural identity, influences social interactions and adapts to various contexts. This lecture explores the intricate relationship between language and culture, emphasizing how contextual factors shape communication practices. We will examine key theoretical frameworks that illustrate the interplay between linguistic structures and cultural norms, including sociolinguistics, pragmatics, and discourse analysis. By analyzing real-world examples, we will uncover how language reflects cultural identity, influences social interactions, and adapts to various contexts. Students will gain insights into the ways language functions as a cultural tool, facilitating both personal expression and communal understanding. The lecture aims to enhance students’ awareness of linguistic diversity and the contextual nuances that inform communication in different cultural settings.
