More than 570 universities across 35 countries now participate in one of the 65 European University Alliances, representing over 11 million students in a growing ecosystem of cross‑border collaboration. The alliances have an ambition to support the teaching and learning centres.

This round‑table discussion explores how the alliances are shaping pedagogical development, what opportunities they create for innovation, and which challenges teaching and learning centres face as they navigate transnational cooperation. The conversation will address both the potential for driving meaningful change and the risks or tensions that may arise.

Our panel brings together Erjo Beitler from University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), Kine Maridatter Dørrum Maxwell, UiT The Arctic University of Norway and Geir Gunnlaugsson, Uppsala University, Sweden. The session will be chaired by Sara Westman from Lund University, Sweden

This event is streamed live from the EUGLOH Conference on Pedagogcial Development taking place in Alcalá where around 200 educators, researchers, students, and staff involved in teaching administration from European university alliances meet to share innovative practices and reflect on the future of teaching and learning in transnational higher education.

The conference aims to strengthen collaboration among teachers, students, educational developers, and academic support staff across institutions, promoting pedagogical innovation, joint course design, and the professional development of academic staff. Students play a central role as co-creators and active contributors, bringing their perspectives, experiences, and ideas to the ongoing transformation of higher education within European alliances.
